Marketing for CBSE schools: stand out in a crowded catchment.

Most parents shortlisting a CBSE school see four or five options within a few kilometres, all with the same board, similar fees and near-identical brochures. The school that explains its difference clearly, and calls back first, wins the seat.

The short version

  • The board is not a differentiator when every school nearby is CBSE. Find what is.
  • Parents shortlist from October. Start campaigns in September.
  • Make the campus visit the goal of every campaign.
  • Board results, teacher quality and safety are what parents check first.
  • Report cost per admission by class, not cost per lead.

Why CBSE school marketing is harder than it looks

CBSE is the default choice for a large share of urban and Tier-2 Indian families, which means your real competition is not other boards. It is the three other CBSE schools on the same road. “CBSE affiliated, smart classes, holistic development” describes all of them. Parents end up choosing on distance, fees and whoever answered the phone properly.

Good CBSE school marketing starts by finding the one or two things that are genuinely yours: class 10 and 12 results, a named sports or arts programme, teacher retention, transport coverage, or a specific approach to the early years. Then every campaign says that, not the board name.

The season

MonthWhat to do
June to AugustPublish board results properly, build reviews, record teacher and campus content
SeptemberEarly enquiry campaigns while competition is low
October to DecemberMain campaign: open house, campus tours, fee clarity, entry-class focus
January to MarchConvert the enquiry bank, target relocating families, close the season

What we run

  • Meta and Google campaigns within your real catchment, usually a radius set by your bus routes.
  • Search ads on “CBSE school near me” and “best CBSE school in [area]”.
  • A landing page per entry class (nursery, class 1, class 6, class 11) with fees and the visit booking.
  • Board result content: toppers with consent, subject averages, and what the school did to get there.
  • Google Business Profile clean-up, so parents find one listing, one phone number and real reviews.
  • WhatsApp and counsellor follow-up so every enquiry gets a same-day call.

Across 25+ live K-12 and play school accounts we have run, cost per enquiry has ranged from Rs. 55 to Rs. 265, depending on city, fee level and season. Cost per admission depends far more on follow-up than on the ads.

Mistakes we see

  • Leading with “CBSE affiliated” as if it were the reason to choose you.
  • Hiding fees online, so serious parents move to the school that shows them.
  • One campaign for nursery and class 11, which are completely different buyers.
  • Launching in January, when every school nearby is bidding for the same parents.

Questions we get asked

When should a CBSE school start admission marketing?

In September, before most schools start advertising. The main campaign runs from October to December, with January to March used to convert the enquiries you already have.

How can a CBSE school stand out from other CBSE schools nearby?

By leading with what is actually different: results, a specific programme, teacher quality, transport coverage or fees, and by responding to enquiries faster than anyone else.

Should a CBSE school show fees on its website?

In most cases, yes. Parents find fees anyway, and the school that shows them clearly earns trust and gets fewer enquiries that go nowhere.
