Admissions marketing for colleges and universities.

Degree colleges, private universities and professional institutes. The buyer is the student, the payer is often the parent, and the decision window is measured in weeks around counselling rounds. Generic admissions ads lose to course-level intent every time.

The real problem

One admissions ad for thirty courses is not a campaign.

A B.Tech aspirant and a B.Com aspirant share almost nothing except your campus gate.

The most common structure I see in college accounts is a single campaign pointing at a single admissions page, running from January to July. It produces a large pile of unsorted enquiries which the counselling team then has to qualify by phone, one call at a time, because the lead does not say which course the student wants.

Split by course and three things happen at once. The creative can finally say something specific, so the click-through rate rises. The landing page can answer the real question, which is placements and fees for that course. And the counsellor opens the lead already knowing what the conversation is about, which cuts the time to first meaningful contact.

Timing is the other half

Higher-ed demand is not a smooth curve. It spikes around board results, entrance results and each counselling round, and it collapses in between. Budget that is spread evenly across the year buys expensive clicks in dead weeks and runs out exactly when the auction matters. The campaign calendar should be built around your state’s actual counselling dates.

Measure the seat, not the form

An application started is worth tracking. An application completed is worth more. A fee paid is the only number that pays your salaries. When those stages are pushed back into Meta and Google as offline conversions, the platforms start finding students who finish the process rather than students who browse.

The lead does not convert.
The counsellor does. Give them a better lead.

Questions from this category

Answered straight.

We have thirty-plus courses. Do we need thirty campaigns?

No. You need campaign groups by course family, usually six to ten, plus separate handling for the two or three courses that carry most of your intake. Thirty separate campaigns would starve each of data and none would ever exit the learning phase.

Most of our admissions come through counselling allotment. Does marketing matter?

It matters at the preference-filling stage, which is where students decide which colleges to list and in what order. That decision is made on placements, reviews and what they can find about you in a search. Being invisible there costs seats without ever showing up as a lost lead.

How do we track a student who applies offline or through an agent?

With offline conversion uploads. Your admissions team exports fee-paid records on a schedule, they are matched back to the ad click, and the platforms learn which campaigns produced real seats. This is the single highest-value tracking change most colleges can make.

Our competitors advertise much bigger budgets. Can we compete?

On brand campaigns, probably not. On specific courses where you have a genuine placement or faculty story, yes, because the auction there is narrower and intent is higher. Concentration beats spread when the budget gap is large.

Do you work with universities outside India?

Campaign work has run across ten countries, though the education client base is mostly Indian. For overseas recruitment specifically, the channel mix and compliance are different and I will say so before taking it on.
